Blueberry Tours
Have you ever wondered how to rake blueberries or what a mechanical harvester is, and how it works? Here’s your chance to find out!
Come tour Welch Farm – a working blueberry farm in Roque Bluffs. Tour dates and times: Friday, August 16, at 11 am ; Saturday, August 17, at 11 am and 1 pm. Take a free tour of a local blueberry farm and learn what it takes to bring those luscious little blues from the fields to your pancakes. Wild blueberries grow and are harvested differently from cultivated, “high-bush” blueberries. You’ll see what we mean when we talk about “raking’ blueberries.
11 am on Friday: There is no shuttle bus for Friday. Pick up a map at the information booth near the church, and drive out. The farm is about 10-15 minutes from Machias. There will be signs when you get close to the farm. The address is 186 Roque Bluffs Road, Roque Bluffs, Maine. Click here for a map.
11 am and 1 pm on Saturday: Shuttle service to the farm leaves from the Hannaford Shuttle stop at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. Please note: Children must be at least 5 years old to ride the bus.
