We've Got the Blueberry Blues!
The script and the music are different year to year, but you can count on one thing to stay the same: The Blueberry Festival musical is always written and performed by local talent, and it's always big fun!
Members from the church and community come together to create the script, choreography, lyrics, stage sets, props and costumes for five nights of homegrown, small-town good times in the church sanctuary.
2012 Musical TBA
Last summer the 2011 Wild Blueberry Festival Musical was “Blueberry Fields Forever,” featuring four young blokes from Old England who come to Machias with a sweeping new concept in agricultural technology. They work for the corporate monolith R.A.K.E. Inc. and announce, “We Wanna RAKE Your Land.” Discovering how we independent Downeasters react to change is a highlight of their visit. Written and directed by part-time Machias Assessor Doug Guy (he’s got to have a sense of humor in his business) with music direction by Chris Guy, it featured new faces as well as those local performers you know so well.
