Blueberry Festival Events
In addition to the events listed in the link bar, there is a lot more to enjoy at the Blueberry Festival.
Take a tour of the colonial era Burnham Tavern Museum, which played a role in the early days of the American Revolution. The Museum will be open Monday through Saturday (Festival Saturday only) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
At Centre Street Church, local historian Dr. John Ahlin will give talks on the historic Centre Street Church, Saturday at noon.
The Machias Historical Society will present a Blueberry Museum Saturday and Sunday at the Whole Life Market, 4 Colonial Way, Store 3, Machias (Address formerly known as 80 Main Street).
Learn more about Maine wild blueberries, with a tour of the Welch Farm, a working blueberry farm on the Roque Bluffs Road. Blueberry Farm Tours will be: Thurs. at 11:00; Fri. at 11:00; Sat. at 10:00 and 1:00; and Sun. at 11:00. Free shuttles for the farm tours will operate on Saturday. Pick up tickets for the free shuttle transportation at the Blueberry Museum. The tours, including travel time are about 1 1/2 hours.
Art lovers can browse two exhibits at Centre Street Church:
- "Art of Downeast Maine" art exhibit, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 to 4:00, Sat. 9:00 to 5:00, Sun. 1:00 to 4:00.
- Blueberry Quilt Exhibit, displaying many Blueberry Quilts from past years.
In addition to the 250 craft booths, Festival-related items and crafts by the ladies of Centre Street Church will be available all weekend.
The Flea Market at Centre Street Church on Friday, from 8:00 to 2:00, could yield real bargains and finds. A limited number of tables are available to sell at the Flea Market. Click here for more information. Applications will be available on the downloads page.
The Machias Post Office will have a special Blueberry Festival U.S. Postal Service Substation on Saturday.
Several organizations in the Machias community will sponsor displays, sales, and events.
