Kid Stuff
The Machias Wild Blueberry Festival is great fun for kids. In addition to special activities, the Banner Contest, the Cooking Contest, the Pie-Eating Contest, and the Blueberry Run all include children's categories.
On Friday, enjoy the Children's Parade and entertainment sponsored by the Washington County Children's Program. The parade forms at the Machias Valley Baptist Church at 5:45 p.m., and all children are invited to participate. After the parade, there will be entertainment for children and families at the Performing Arts Center at the University of Maine at Machias, just across the bridge and up the hill. - Friday, August 17: Children’s Parade (canceled if it rains)
Machias Valley Baptist Church, Broadway, Machias. Limited parking at MVB Church; arrive early. Line up at 5:45 p.m. No motorized vehicles allowed. - 6 p.m. Parade begins. Dress up if you wish.
- 7 p.m. Entertainment. TBA

Kids Zone
Children can enjoy the Kids Zone on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Kids Zone has interactive activities for children on the Church Common (the grassy area next to Centre Street Church).
The Kids Zone is sponsored by Family First: Parents Are Teachers Too, a program of Down East Community Hospital.
Bird-House Building, Puppets, and More!
Look for the Downeast Coastal Conservancy booth, which will have activities for kids on Saturday and Sunday. Kids can build and decorate a bird house, have their faces painted, and play with puppets in an interactive theater production with the theme TBA.
